Manage your heating correctly to avoid dampness

Proper use of heating can help reduce damp in a home, but it’s not a magic bullet. It’s important to treat the main cause of humidity, which is often linked to poor ventilation.

Why heat properly?

  • Heating maintains a stable indoor temperature, limiting condensation of water vapour.
  • It helps dry out the ambient air, slowing the spread of humidity.
  • There’s no need to overheat! A temperature of 19°C is sufficient in most rooms for good thermal comfort.

In cold weather, heating is essential to prevent moist air from condensing on cold walls.

How to set your thermostatic valves correctly?

Thermostatic valves regulate the flow of hot water to radiators. They allow you to heat more or less according to the desired temperature in each room.

Each level (from 1 to 5) corresponds to a target temperature:

Adjust the settings to suit the room:

To remember:

  • Smart heating is good for your comfort and your bill.
  • No heating without ventilation! Moisture needs to be evacuated.
  • Maintain your heating systems regularly and check that they are working properly.

Well-tuned heating means a healthier, more comfortable and more economical home!
